People talk about encryption as if it solves the whole house. It solves the wires. It does not solve the kitchen counter. If someone unlocks your phone, they can open whatever the lock screen allowed.
What WhatsApp-style lock misses
Some messengers let you fingerprint the whole app. That is useful. It is also coarse. Unlock once and every chat is there — work, family, the conversation you did not want on a shared handset.
Chat backups and media galleries create a second copy. A disappearing message setting that is off by default means the archive grows until someone scrolls.
Lock Chat
